Imam Bilal Jafar Barakati - Imam/Khateeb

Having served the Masjid for 25+ years, Imam Bilal is also our senior Imam. From the days when the Masjid was a house on Staines Road, Imam Bilal has been a pillar in our community, reciting Tarawih annually and helping build the foundations of the building we currently are in. Having taken a brief hiatus to focus on other areas, Imam Bilal returned to Hounslow a few years ago. He lives with his children close to the Mosque.







Imam Rafique Ahmed Misbahi - Imam/Khateeb

Imam Rafique Ahmed is the resident Imam of Hounslow Jamia Masjid. He has taught at various institutions in the subcontinent and also at Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust in Birmingham. The Imam has graduated from Al Jamaitul Ashrafia Abrabic University Azamgad, India and has over 15+ years experience in the position of Imam. He currently presides over the Aalim and Allimah classes in Hounslow and lives with his three children close to the Mosque.









Shaykha Safia Shahid

Shaykha Safia Shahid is a leading scholar embodying a rich tradition and history of female scholarship. Born and raised in Glasgow, Shaykha Safia Shahid travelled to Syria in 2003 to study sacred knowledge. She stayed there for five years, studying Arabic at the University of Damascus and the Abu Nour Institute. Shaykha Safia attended the classes of several illustrious scholars of our time, such as Shaykh Adnan Darwish and received ijaza (license) to teach tajwid from Shaykh Abul Hassan Al-Kurdi. She also benefited from the company of great gnostics such as Shaykh Ahmad al-Habbal and Shaykh Shukri al-Luhafi. She studied numerous texts under the tutelage of the great erudite scholar, Al-Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, and was granted ijaza in major books of hadith. Upon leaving Syria in 2008, Shaykha Safia began teaching online classes, covering subjects such as tajwid and aqida (completing Al-Aqida Al-Tahawiya several times). She moved to London in 2013 and continues teaching in Hounslow and Harrow. Shaykha Safia has delivered talks and courses at many Universities and conferences with guest appearances on radio, Islam Channel, British Muslim TV and Imams Online. Universities she has spoken at include: Cambridge, Imperial College (in conjunction with UCL and SOAS), Warwick, Aston, York, Middlesex, Birmingham and many others. In 2015, she was awarded a BISCA Award for Outstanding Contribution to Women’s Empowerment.


Shaykh Baber

Born and raised in the UK, Shaykh Baber has attended the classes of several illustrious scholars of our time in both the UK and abroad. He has studied Fiqh, Tafsir, Hadith and other subjects, though his passion is the linguistic beauty of the Quran. He currently runs a highly successful Arabic Institute, Ibn Jabal, which is credited with combining the classical approaches from the Arab world and the Indian sub-continent with modern language teaching techniques used in the best universities in the West. He has held several Tafsir classes in Hounslow, Watford and central London and leads gatherings of Remembrance in various localities. Shaykh Baber lives with his family in Hayes, London.


 Shaykh Ammar

Shaykh Ammar

Shaykh Ammar graduated as a Hafiz of the Qur'aan in 2007, later on he commenced his Islamic Studies under Mufti Muhammad Liaqat (South Africa) and Imam Muhammad Yazdaani (London). His Qur'anic studies were done under many respected teachers such as Hafiz Qari Najeebullah (Afghanistan), Dr.Qari Muhammad Younas, and he took his Ijaazah of the Imam Hafs School of recitation from Shaykh Muhammad Hishaam (Kuwait). He currently is studying the sacred islamic sciences and is a fundamental member of the Larayb Institute for Education.


 Abu Bakr

Shaykh Abu Bakr

Shaykh Abu Bakr is a Khateeb, Teacher, in Reading Islamic Centre. Born in 1989 in Reading, he moved to Birmingham where he began his journey in the Islamic Sciences at age sixteen. His first steps towards Islamic Scholarship took place at the esteemed Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust (Birmingham) in 2005, under the auspicious Shaykhs and Teachers of the Dars-e-Nizaami Department.

Whilst undertaking the four year Dars-e-Nizaami course - alongside his A-Levels in a local college - he travelled to Damascus (Syria), one of the traditional Centres of Excellence for the Sacred Sciences, where he excelled at the University of Damascus having enrolled in the Faculty of Language. During his time in this blessed land, he had the opportunity to study Tajweed, Hanafi Fiqh, Hadith and Tafsir from prominent teachers, known worldwide for their ability to produce outstanding students and scholars. Upon returning to the UK he completed his final year at the Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust, graduating in 2009 as a qualified Imam. Thereafter he pursued a BA Honours degree in International Business & Arabic at Middlesex University, from where he graduated in 2012.

Ustadh Abu Bakr's down to earth and affable personality has seen him warmly embraced by the communities within which he works. He has quickly become a recognised role model and source of help to his community, showing great initiative especially in working with the youth, where his efforts continue. Ustadh Abu Bakr is currently continuing his pursuit of the Islamic Sciences with local scholars, having become a part time Khateeb and Teacher of Arabic at Jamia Ghousia (RIC) Masjid, Reading.


Ustadh Hammad

Ustadh Hammad Siddiqui has begun delivering speeches at Hounslow Jamia Masjid since May 2016. Younger brother of Shaykh Ammar, he has his own uniqe style of delivering captivating speeches. A full bio will be provided soon.
