Covid-19 Burial Statement

Posted on: 07 April 2020

Dear brothers and sisters,

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu

Further to the statement to the community on 2nd April, regarding the status of Covid-19 burials, we are now able to update further.

As of Tuesday 7th April, we have the necessary volunteer structure and PPE, and have undergone the appropriate training to carry out the requirements associated with such deaths. We will be conducting the first burial today, Tuesday 7th April.

We are thankful to brother Ayyaz in Slough who had been able to step in for this short period, and also to the volunteers who have dedicated their time in this period of fear and risk.

There have been many emotional and unfair comments distributed on the back of the original statement, which explained our position with regards not having the requirements needed at the time of writing.

A lot of the information unfortunately was false propaganda. Although this is not the time to focus on such matters, we urge anyone who receives any information via any platform to consider the source, their reliability and to look for more information before believing everything you read, and especially before forwarding on.

We ask Allah Almighty to protect our communities, and allow us to continue to serve with sincerity. If there are any volunteers who would like to also be part of this setup please visit our website and fill out the volunteer request form
